TEACHING
Teaching that travels.
Lectures, workshops, grand rounds and written explainers, for clinicians and for families. Much of our teaching lives online and is read or watched by far more people than ever sit in a room with us.
ALL WAYS TO ENGAGEFOR FAMILIES
Facts for Families.
Carlene helps lead the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry committee behind Facts for Families, the plain-language guides that parents and schools read several million times a year. She is a Distinguished Fellow of AACAP and a DSM-5 trainer for Massachusetts, anchors the clinical advisory board of Ginko, and speaks to parents and schools about screens, social media and digital flourishing.
FOR CLINICIANS
Clinical Essentials, grand rounds and primers.
Owen authored much of AACAP's Clinical Essentials series for practicing clinicians: ADHD, autism, emotion dysregulation, eating disorders, gender-diverse youth, intellectual developmental disorder, suicide in children and adolescents, trauma-focused CBT, neuromodulation, cannabis use disorder and advanced psychopharmacology. He has taught residents at Hofstra-Northwell and NYU, pediatricians at Bellevue, and architecture students at Pratt, and is senior author of the American Journal of Therapeutics' primer series on psychedelic therapy for primary care clinicians.
Together we teach grand rounds and CME on TMS, accelerated protocols, esketamine and measurement-based care.
